On 4th of July 2025, GEO CLUB Association hosted an insightful Mentorship Event in Bucharest, dedicated to sustainability and entrepreneurship in the food industry, gathering many experts in the field with experience in the topic. At the event we had the pleasure of gathering 20 young participants, 5 youth workers, 5 mentors, and 2 international representatives from project partners in Lithuania and Portugal.
We were delighted to welcome Adina Moise, a Psychologist and Community Facilitator, who is a key member of The Legacy Bucharest Team – the group that generously hosted our event at their venue. During her engaging presentation, Adina highlighted the critical role urban community gardens play in enhancing local well-being, fostering social connections, and promoting environmental awareness. She provided firsthand insights from her own experiences cultivating plants in these shared spaces, illustrating how gardening not only improves mental health but also strengthens communities. Adina also offered practical advice and pointed out specific places in Bucharest where residents can access fresh, locally grown produce, encouraging everyone to explore and support these urban initiatives.
The event also featured an impactful speech from Gabriela Ionescu, Associate Professor at the Faculty of Energy Engineering of Politehnica University Bucharest. Gabriela guided us through essential information and compelling statistics about waste management, including practices of selective collection and innovative methods for waste valorization. She emphasized the necessity of being proactive and setting good examples, explaining how individual and collective actions can drive significant change. Her address prompted deep reflection within the audience about the urgent need to adopt more sustainable habits, reinforcing that our choices today directly shape the future of our environment and society.
Of course, we presented our project results, community actions and innovative business ideas which have been created during the project’s lifetime, being extremely proud of the achievements in the local community and among the target groups which we set in the beginning.
